Martin brings to Pilko in-depth and extensive senior-executive leadership experience in European and global manufacturing and environmental issues and transactions. Martin joined Pilko in January 2004 after a long career managing operations, and also environmental issues within the business, and in transactions at the corporate global level with ICI, a large multi-national chemical company headquartered in the UK. “Most environmental consultancies just look at the technical detail,” Martin continues. “What I did with ICI – and what Pilko does – is to see the business context into which the environmental issues fit.” "Understanding the evolution of environmental, process safety and operational risk issues in the context of a particular transaction, and combining operations and environmental expertise with business experience is something I contribute to Pilko’s clients.” In his years since joining Pilko, Martin has worked on many global transactions, working for merchant banks, equity houses, and multinational oil and chemical companies. Projects include the divestment of Dynamit Nobel, the divestment of Basell, the divestment of many European refineries and marketing businesses, and the acquisitions of Brunner Mond and of Jaguar Land Rover by Tata Industries, of Lucite by Mitsubishi Rayon, and of many European petroleum marketing businesses. Prior to joining Pilko, Martin served as ICI's Director of Sustainability, responsible for initiating, implementing and directing sustainable development for ICI. In this role, he worked with NGOs, socially responsible investment institutions, regulators, and other stakeholders and obtained the active support and commitment of the Board and key business leaders. Martin has a B.Sc. with Honours in chemistry from Imperial College, London University and a postgraduate diploma in chemical engineering from University College, London. Martin is also a distinguished Fellow of the Institute of Chemical Engineers. |
