David Dunbar

David has 25 years of broad-based experience in environmental consulting throughout California and the United States. This experience includes serving as a principal for a major international consulting company on projects involving the assessment and remediation of hazardous waste and petroleum hydrocarbon contamination at a variety of sites, such as, refineries, transportation facilities, industrial manufacturing and food-processing plants, wood-treating sites, landfills, and military bases.

David has provided these specialized consulting services to a variety of clients, including the railroad, oil, aerospace, and electronic industries, and state and federal agencies, among others. He has worked extensively with legal counsel providing expert witness services for environmental litigation, conducted site assessment and remediation, performed due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, site decommissioning, and property transfer assessments.

He has been called upon to provide technical support to the EPA and state agencies on Superfund matters. He has also appeared and testified as an expert hydrogeologist on behalf of clients before the California State Water Resources Control Board, and the Los Angeles and San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Boards.

As a hydrogeologist, David has guided and/or managed projects in a wide range of hydrogeologic settings, including complex alluvial systems, tidal-influenced, karstic, geothermal, and fracture flow environments. This work has covered the design and implementation of soil and groundwater sampling programs (including vadose zone monitoring, soil borings and monitoring wells), analyses of data, modeling and the design of remedial resources.

David received an M.S. in hydrology and water resources from the University of Arizona and his B.A. degree in geology from Princeton University. He is a Registered Geologist in California and a member of the Association of Ground Water Scientists and Engineers and the American Geophysical Union.
