Roundtables

Since 2000 we have hosted over 30 Client Roundtables throughout North America and Europe for Outside Directors and Corporate Officers of multinational chemical and energy companies. These Transactions Roundtables and Governance Roundtables provide an intimate forum for exchanging ideas on how to most effectively manage EHS matters, either during deals or ongoing operations.  The response from participants has been quite enthusiastic as the opportunity to network is one of many benefits.

The discussion during these half day Roundtables is lively – there are no speeches or presentations – instead a rapid fire exchange of “what works and what doesn’t” to create shareholder value from EHS issues.  We propose 2-3 topics to be discussed at each Roundtable when we extend invitations, but provide the flexibility to cover additional topics of interest to participants.

We will often use Case Studies (suitably disguised) to illustrate the complexity of EHS challenges.  The participants wrestle with situations such as “how should EHS Governance be handled at a JV when the owners have different philosophies” or “what do you do when the other party in a large acquisition employs negotiating strategies which you deem as unfair and/or unethical.”

We limit the number of participants at each Roundtable to eighteen in order to provide for maximum sharing of ideas. Normally the participants will have dinner together the evening before the Roundtable to become re-acquainted and prepare for the next day’s discussions.

We have held Roundtables in Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, London, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, Houston, and Calgary. Over 300 senior representatives from operating companies, private equity firms, investment banks and law firms have participated.

Our last Transactions Roundtable was held May 13th in London; and our last Governance Forum was held July 14th in Calgary.
