Billy McClain joins Pilko with 40+ years’ experience in the refining and chemical industries. He recently retired from Calumet Specialty Products where he was Senior Advisor, Operations Excellence. There, he facilitated three technical networks (turnaround, maintenance workflow process, and operations training and procedures). He was corporate operations excellence team member for selecting and integrating new process chemical and water treatment vendor into the three Northwest Louisiana facilities. Billy also served as Plant Manager of the Calumet Shreveport Refinery where he reorganized the operations department from a day-led organization to a shift team concept and reliability centered organization. He instituted a maintenance workflow process and reorganized the maintenance department and created a reliability engineering group. The use of a corporate capital project management guidelines was reinstituted at the site.

Prior to that, he was Refinery Manager of the Marathon/Andeavor El Paso Refinery. He also served as Refinery Manager of the Marathon/Andeavor Gallup Refinery.

Billy worked for Flint Hills Resources as Production Manager, Southern Tier Venture Manager, Technical Manager, as well other managerial roles during a 14-year career with Flint Hills.

Prior to Flint Hills, he held serval managerial and supervisory roles with Lyondell and Lyondell-Citgo Refining.

Billy received his MBA from the University of Houston Clear Lake and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Houston.
