Clive Duerden joined Pilko with over 33 years of worldwide client experience in planning, risk analysis, capital project cost estimating through to conceptual and cost / change management control of multi-billion dollar greenfield and brownfield energy, LNG, oil and gas and decommissioning projects.

Clive recently took a break from full time work to dedicate more time and energy to training for international Ironman triathlon competitions. His key skills are Oil and Gas project management, project cost controls, project schedule control, owner and principal cost and schedule estimating, joint venture project management reviews, and owner project representation. He worked extensively in North America, Africa, Europe and Asia with ExxonMobil, Chevron, Shell and British Petroleum.

Most recently he served as the lead Cost & Schedule Advisor on Guyana Deepwater development advising on overall project controls for the Payara FPSO. The vessel moored in 1,900m-deep water has a processing capacity of 220,000bpd of oil, along with an associated gas treatment capacity 400mcf a day; plus water injection capacity of 250,000bpd. The overall project scope involves drilling a total of 41 wells, including 20 production and 21 injection wells from ten drill centers.

Other activities included reviewing potential strategies to secure cost savings on ExxonMobil’s annual $30B procurement activities. In addition, he recently worked on preparing cost estimates for Carbon Capture Sequestration projects on the Gulf coast.

Previously Clive had served as ExxonMobil’s chief project cost and schedule representative on African projects with National Oil Companies (NOCs) and on joint ventures with Chevron in Asia. He led cost and schedule reviews for ExxonMobil in the US, Russia, Qatar, Nigeria, Kazakhstan and several other countries. He provided guidance on estimating, planning, project controls and reporting for ExxonMobil’s operated and non-operated projects.

Clive received his BS Mechanical Engineering from the University of Salford, UK. Clive is based in Texas and has dual USA/UK citizenship.
