David Zimmer is a highly accomplished chemical industry executive with more than 35 years of leadership experience across manufacturing operations, process improvement, technology, and operational excellence. During his distinguished career with Union Carbide Corporation and The Dow Chemical Company, he held a series of progressively senior leadership roles spanning production, logistics, global manufacturing improvement, technology management, and intellectual property protection.

David’s experience encompasses a broad range of chemical manufacturing processes and businesses, including acrylics, acrylates, amines, cellulose derivatives, and specialty chemicals. Throughout his career, he led major operational improvement initiatives, large-scale asset transformations, capital programs, and process safety advancements across manufacturing facilities in North America and around the world. Notable accomplishments include overseeing the implementation of a $270 million manufacturing asset restructuring program, leading global improvement efforts for Dow’s worldwide acrylates operations, and directing manufacturing intellectual property protection programs across Dow’s global manufacturing network.

In his role as Performance Monomers Technology Center Director, David led a team of 60 technology professionals supporting 22 manufacturing plants in 10 locations worldwide. He was responsible for advancing operational excellence, driving process safety performance, supporting competitively advantaged manufacturing assets, and managing significant capital investment portfolios. His leadership contributed to the reliable operation and continuous improvement of manufacturing assets generating approximately $2 billion in annual sales.

Since retiring from Dow in 2017, David has remained active in developing future engineering talent. From 2018 to 2025, he served as Director of Cooperative Education Experiences for the Louisiana State University College of Engineering, where he helped engineering students secure valuable industry internships and cooperative education assignments while strengthening partnerships between academia and industry.

David holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Louisiana State University and brings deep expertise in manufacturing operations, operational excellence, process safety, organizational leadership, technology management, capital project execution, and continuous improvement.
