Jeremy Venter has 33+ years’ experience working and consulting in specialty chemicals and manufacturing industries. He supports organizations to achieve growth and transformational objectives in Manufacturing and Process Safety, to conduct buy- and sell-side operational due diligence during acquisitions, and to perform organizational assessments to identify and drive performance improvements in Process Safety Management Systems, Manufacturing Excellence, and New Product Development / Scale-Up / Manufacturing.
Jeremy retired from Dow Chemical in 2019 as a Global Process Technology and Technology Center Director for Advanced Polymers in Dow Coatings Materials where he Directed organizations within six Dow businesses with total revenue of $6B: Coating Materials, Adhesives, Plastics Additives, Home and Personal Care, Construction Chemicals, and Oil and Gas Intermediates. He directed teams in Environmental, Health and Safety, Process Safety, Quality, Manufacturing Plants, and Technology Centers. He had responsibility for Capital Execution, Reliability, Technology Stewards, External Manufacturing, Competitive Intelligence, Process Automation, New Product Introductions, as well as Scale-Up Tools and Processes.
Jeremy also served as Global Process Technology Director, Specialty Materials Coatings at Rohm and Haas Company where he led Specialty Materials Process Technology for five businesses with total revenue of $4B: Coatings, Adhesives, Plastics Additives, Home and Personal Care, and Construction Chemicals. He directed manufacturing support for a network of ~ 40 sites in North America, Europe, Latin America, and Asia (Replacement Value ~$3B) and oversaw teams in Quality, Plant manufacturing support through Technology Steward, Competitive Intelligence, New Product Introductions, as well as Scale-Up Tools and Processes.
Prior to that, Jeremy held the title of Global Operations Director / Area Production Leader, Digital Imaging Dispersions in Rohm and Haas Company. He headed the sole manufacturing site for global Digital Imaging business and was responsible for manufacturing, supply chain, and general operations of $12MM business with a single manufacturing location. He served as a member of the global business team, interfacing with customers to coordinate product development, supply, audits, and pricing.
Jeremy also served as the Global R&D Director for Architectural Coatings where he oversaw product development to meet low VOC market trends, development of technology roadmaps, and introduction of novel paint making manufacturing technologies.
Earlier in his career, Jeremy held many positions at Rohm and Haas such as Global New Product Commercialization Project Leader, Architectural Coatings R&D; R&D Section Manager in Architectural Coatings responsible for Metal and Traffic Paint binders; Senior Process Development Engineer in Acrylic Monomers Research responsible for Methyl Methacrylate; Start-Up Engineer for a new Butyl Acrylate Monomers plant; Detail Design Process Engineer for a new Butyl Acrylate Monomer plant; Process Design and Development Engineer in Monomers responsible Ethyl Acrylate, Butyl Acrylate, and Methyl Methacrylate.
Jeremy received his PhD and MS, Chemical Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University, and his BS, Chemical Engineering from the University of the Northwest, South Africa.
Jeremy is married to Kathleen, and they have three grown children. When not consulting, Jeremy enjoys gardening, golfing, writing, traveling, and spending time with his family.
