Raymond Lawrence (Larry) June joins Pilko with almost 30 years’ experience in the chemical and energy space working at Shell for most of his career. Larry retired from Shell as Global SMPO and Derivatives Technology Manager in Bangalore, IN where he re-homed the technology team from Europe to Asia and oversaw the startup of new laboratory and experimental/pilot assets. A major accomplishment in this period was the delivery of a large technology license package for a SMPO and Derivatives complex and multiple smaller process improvement projects for existing Shell facilities, with the help of external contractor assistance. Importantly, the team also delivered a technology package in three months to safely restart a process unit after a significant process safety incident. In the Global Skillpool Manager role within the SMPO and Derivatives technology area, he assisted in the development of staff and retention of technical knowledge, in a small, but critical skillpool, by developing a staff technical expertise program for SMPO and Derivatives staff entering Shell.

Prior to that, Larry was Business Opportunity Manager, Smart Manufacturing for Shell in Houston, TX where he developed and managed the implementation of the Smart Manufacturing program in Shell’s global manufacturing organization. Larry created and maintained the business case for the program engaging and aligning a broad group of corporate stakeholders for program implementation. He developed global Proactive Technical Monitoring work processes with pilot sites and developed Shell’s Technical Monitoring Plan template while contributing to the design specifications for the Proactive Technical Monitoring Hub. He ensured value delivery from the business opportunity to the Group and served as interim Process Owner for Proactive Technical Monitoring.

Earlier in his career, Larry held positions at the Shell Jurong Island facility in Singapore, including Production Manager, Process Technology Manager, and Senior Process Technologist (SMPO/EB). As Production Manager, Larry was responsible for safe and reliable operation of site facilities and the integration of a new MEG unit into the running organization. He was also the Ensure Safe Production process owner on site. In the Process Technology Manager role, Larry led the technology/process engineering and laboratory teams. Major responsibilities were development of staff, capital management and planning, and process improvement activities. His role as Senior Process Technologist focused on the design, construction, commissioning, and start-up of the SMPO-2 complex in Singapore.

Larry began his career at Shell with several Process Research and Development roles in Houston and Amsterdam.

Larry received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
