R. Michael “Mike” Mason is a seasoned Manufacturing Improvement Director with a distinguished record of elevating process safety, operational reliability, and cost performance across global chemical manufacturing networks.  With nearly four decades of leadership experience at Dow Inc. and Rohm and Haas, he is recognized for his ability to diagnose complex operational challenges, create innovative solutions, and deliver measurable, sustainable results.

Mike has led large, diverse engineering and technology teams across the U.S., Europe, and Asia, managing capital and expense portfolios exceeding $25MM annually. His leadership has driven major turnarounds, including the recovery of a failed facility start‑up that restored operations within four months and generated $10MM in annual savings. He is a subject matter expert in acrylate monomer production, asset footprint optimization, and global technology strategy development.

Throughout his career, Mike has built a reputation as a collaborative problem solver and trusted advisor to manufacturing, operations, and EHS leadership. He has directed global technology strategies that consistently delivered multimillion‑dollar cost reductions, capacity expansions, and significant process safety risk mitigation. His work in behavior‑based observation and cultural assessment has helped reduce injury rates across dozens of global sites.

Earlier in his career, Mike held progressive leadership roles in production, process engineering, and research, overseeing large‑scale polymer and monomer operations and guiding the design, construction, and start‑up of new manufacturing assets. His technical contributions include multiple U.S. and international patents in polymerization inhibition, purification technologies, and process design.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and is a Senior Member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Based in Kingwood, Texas, he is known for his integrity, persistence, attention to detail, and commitment to developing talent and strengthening organizational culture.
