Dr. Nilesh Shah is an ex-global research director with a record of delivering results in a range of specialty chemical businesses. In this position, he has led global research teams as well as a major research center. He has a strong technical background coupled with a long record of participation in business leadership teams and experience in marketing and strategic planning.

Dr. Shah is currently a consultant specializing in innovation management and technology strategy development. Before joining Pilko & Associates, he retired from The Dow Chemical Company as Global R&D Director. As a member of Dow’s R&D Leadership Team, he led R&D, technical service & development for the home, and a personal care business ($1.3 B revenue). Accumulating an established track record of new product launches over his career, he was responsible for developing products and process technology across a range of platforms. Through this experience, he developed deep relationships with key customers for collaborative innovation programs.

Previously, Nilesh held positions as a Site Director at Northeast Dow Center, a research and commercial center with over 700 employees, as well as an R&D Director for Dow India. There, he was responsible for the people and capabilities for the Dow India R&D organization. Prior to this position, he was also Global Technology Director at Rohm and Haas Company and conducted global research and regulatory affairs for home care, personal care, ion exchange resins, biocides, and a range of specialty chemicals.

Furthermore, Nilesh’s other professional activities include serving as a Technical Advisory Board Member for the University of Massachusetts, Chemical Engineering Department. Additionally, Dr. Shah is a member of Tau Beta Pi, American Chemical Society and American Association for Advancement of Science.

Dr. Shah received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from University of Massachusetts- Amherst and his Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from Jadavpur University, Calcutta.
