Peter Webb recently joined Pilko & Associates, bringing with him 38 years of experience in the chemical industry. Peter retired as HSE Director- Europe Asia and International Region, at LyondellBasell Industries NV. He was accountable for health, safety, environmental and security performance in LyondellBasell’s activities in 23 manufacturing sites in Europe, India, Thailand, China and Australia. In addition to these countries, his responsibilities included commercial offices with a total of 7,000 employees, 23 Manufacturing sites producing 2 MM tons ethylene, 1 MM tons propylene, 4.5 MM tons polyolefins, and $75MM pa HSE Capex. 22 technologies. Prior to this, Peter filled other roles such as site management, HSE management, process technology, and patents & licensing. Peter also worked for Shell Canada and Shell International, based in the UK, Canada, the Netherlands and Germany.

Peter’s experience in process technology and plant management allows him to achieve results in process safety as well as occupational safety. He has led HSE due diligence teams for merger and acquisition activities.

Peter was instrumental in recognition of LyondellBasell becoming an industry leader in HSE performance while simultaneously being honored as one of Fortune Magazine’s “World’s Most Admired Companies”. He is skilled in engaging and motivating front line staff to stimulate outstanding safety behaviors in addition to coaching senior vice presidents on strategy and management practices. Peter’s international experience allows him to be effective regardless of the national context in which he is working, with experience spanning Europe, Asia, North America, and Australia. He gets results by making safety performance personal.

Peter holds a postgraduate diploma in Occupational Health & Safety Management (with distinction) from Loughborough University from 2003 to 2004. Before this, he received a BSc (Hons) in Chemical Engineering from Manchester University, and is a FIChemE (Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers) and CMIOSH (Chartered Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety & Health). Peter’s citizenship is British and Canadian.
