Reed Marton came to Pilko after 38 years in the oil and chemical industries, and more than 30 years at manufacturing facilities in a variety of leadership positions in Health and Safety, Environmental and Process Safety. He has extensive incident investigation experience and knowledge of process unit operations.

Reed held several managerial positions at Phillips 66, most recently Manager HSE Auditing where he was responsible for regulatory and management system audits of all operating assets and corporate support organizations (60+). Reed redefined existing corporate program emphasis and audit team staffing model to provide deep dive audits of process safety effectiveness at refineries and Midstream operations. Prior to that, he was HSE Manager of the Sweeny Refinery in Texas where he was a member of the refinery leadership team responsible for HSE and Process Safety Management compliance and improvement, supported by a team of 30+ professionals. He maintained the incident command system, served as Deputy Incident Commander and oversaw all incident investigations. Reed also provided sitewide stewardship of employee-based safety teams, maintenance of VPP Star status, and helped site achieve 2017 AFPM Gold Elite Award.

Reed also served as HSE Manager, Billings Refinery, Montana with ConocoPhillips where he was a member of refinery leadership team responsible for HSE and Process Safety Management compliance and improvement. Reed developed and stewarded a multiyear strategic safety improvement plan that began by reshaping an ineffective Joint Health and Safety Committee to include the Operations and Maintenance Managers and culminated in achievement of VPP Star status, two consecutive EPA Energy Star awards (the first refinery in the nation), the Governor’s top safety recognition and the company’s first AFPM Distinguished Safety Award in 2008.
