Rick has over 40 years of experience in the chemical industry and 10 years as a senior consultant and advisor in EHS and Operational Risk, both in the chemical and energy sector. As a Senior Advisor and Principal Consultant for Pilko & Associates, he has served as an adjunct to his corporate career.
Prior to growing his career at Pilko & Associates, Rick worked for Hexion Specialty Chemicals Inc., as Executive Vice President of Environmental, Health and Safety in 2004. Prior to this role, his work experience includes working in EH&S executive and management roles with Huntsman International, General Electric Plastics and Monsanto Corporation.
During his tenures at GE, Huntsman and Hexion, Rick was a key M&A team member in 45 separate chemical deals and has international due diligence experience across 22 countries and six continents. Rick is experienced in assessing the valuation effects of EHS and Operational Risk for potential deals, as well as interfacing with corporate buyers/sellers, private equity investors, lenders and boards.
His more recent experience as a Senior Advisor, Rick has performed Operational Risk Management assessments in several assignments for clients in Qatar and Saudi Arabia, making his in-country experience in the Middle East for major petrochemical sites extensive. Within his executive roles with Huntsman and Hexion, Rick directed Operational Risk reduction efforts in programs specifically aimed at insurance loss reduction and premium optimization. Rick led major enterprise risk analysis and implementation processes that significantly improved property and casualty loss performance at both Huntsman and Hexion. This experience has been translated to risk reduction efforts on behalf of Pilko clients.
In addition to his work experience, Rick was one of the principal authors of Pilko’s proprietary 8IGHT DRIVERS® protocols. He is a graduate of Arizona State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering. He is based in the U.S. and resides in Park City, Utah.
