Robin is a 40+ year energy industry professional specializing in culture, leadership & assurance of safety and operational excellence.  He has worked in a number of organizations including Petronas and Husky Energy, after completing a 35-yr career at Shell.

Robin is Founder and Lead Consultant for a successful safety culture and leadership development consultancy, Leading Safety Partners Limited.

During his career at Shell, he held a number of leadership positions, most recently as Process Safety Assurance Manager/Lead Auditor, where he carried out PS Assurance as part of internal audits on operated and joint venture assets.  In this role he provided Shell’s board and work process networks with themes of significant gaps within the operational risk management framework.

Robin previously led Shell’s Upstream process safety improvement program where he also was a cultural trouble-shooter for assets in distress. Over the previous 20 years (since Texas City) he was involved in, and shaped many aspects of Shell’s process safety journey.  Previous to this, he fulfilled operations and maintenance leadership roles across the upstream portfolio in locations all over the world, and completed postings in Syria, Oman, and the UK.  He started his career at Shell in Operations offshore in the Brent field.

During his tenure at Petronas Canada as VP of HSE for a 1Bcf Canadian gas production subsidiary of Petronas, his team developed and implemented “Best in Basin” strategy. This collaborative execution approach drove HSE performances in both process and personal safety.

At Husky Energy as VP of H&S, Robin led sizeable teams of occupational and process safety experts located at all company sites, where they developed and delivered a safety improvement journey to become top quartile in safety.

Robin’s skills include:

  • Turn client HSE and OE ambitions into practical high value improvement projects and line owned execution and governance approaches;
  • Build and lead high performing teams to deliver change and outstanding performance; and
