Jim Overman

Jim Overman is an accomplished business, operations, and execution leader with 40 years experience in the downstream energy sector. Jim began his career as a plant support engineer before progressing into operations holding multiple refinery and supply operations management roles, including Refining Operations Superintendent. He additionally has significant experience in refinery business management holding various positions such as strategy advisor, business opportunity manager, and business lead for a global ERP system implementation. Jim ended his career as Vice President of Business Management role for the Deer Park Refining Limited Partnership (DPRLP), a joint venture between Shell Oil Company and P.M.I. Norteamerica S.A. de C.V. (a subsidiary of PEMEX).

Jim is passionate about improving operational, EHS, and financial performance centered through strengthening organizational capability (OC). Jim supports leaders in championing OC maturation focused through a lens of the “SEA of Leadership” (Setting direction, Enabling the organization, and Assuring execution). Jim can assist in assessing current state, identifying opportunities and blind spots, and developing actionable improvement plans.

Jim received his BS Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University and his MBA from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. He is currently on the Board of Bay Area Turning Point, Inc., a non-profit advocating to end sexual and domestic violence. Jim also volunteers with SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) and ESCH (Executive Service Corps Houston) supporting small businesses and non-profits achieve their aspirations. Jim and wife, Diane, split their time between Houston and Galveston and have two adult children, Catherine (Chicago, IL) and Michael (New Orleans, LA).
